Welcome To The Hutchinson Center

Individuals and organizations are finding writing grants that get funded takes developed skills and strategies.  To assist grant writers, the UMaine Hutchinson Center is once again offering the two-day workshop: Writing Winning Grant Proposals:  Nuts, Bolts & Assembly on August 13 & 14 in Belfast.

Scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, August 13 & 14, each daily session will run from 8:30am to 4:00 pm. with a continental breakfast, lunch, and all workshop materials included.

The votes are being tallied, but you don’t have to wait for the results.  We are offering Waldo County businesses, each and every one, the opportunity to be part of this year’s Best of the Best and Business Showcase.

The Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce, the University of Maine Hutchinson Center and Our Town Belfast are collaborating to host this year’s Best of the Best and Business Showcase.  Formerly just focused on the best of the best Waldo County businesses, this year the Gala event on August 20 at 5:30 p.m. is expanded to include all Waldo County businesses. The Best of the Best and Business Showcase is an opportunity to promote your business with no fees charged for tablespace.  All Waldo County businesses are welcome, first come, first served, as space is limited to Hutchinson Center facility space.

Each year nearly a thousand people come to the Gala enjoying free food, giveaways, music, silent auction, socializing and a fun community event! Most importantly, the Gala raises funds to support scholarships for University of Maine Hutchinson Center students through the silent auction.

So, don’t miss out on promoting your business and donating an item for the silent auction to support funding scholarships for students reaching for their dreams!

The Midcoast Leadership Academy is currently recruiting leaders from the midcoast area for Class 5.  The program will begin on September 21 and continue until June.

The University of Maine Hutchinson Center is advertising for a full time, regular position, 40 hours per week Administrative Assistant.  Employee is the receptionist for the Hutchinson Center welcoming visitors and directing them as appropriate, assisting students with class and library materials, security, managing and proctoring tests, maintaining order in the atrium, and answering questions for the technology help desk.  Judgement and initiative are frequently exercised.

The Mid-Coast AAUW (American Association of University Women) has selected Margaret (Maggie) Raymond, Montville, as this year’s scholarship recipient. The Hutchinson Center is honored to partner with the Mid-Coast AAUW chapter in offering this annual scholarship to a first time college student (or one who has been out of college for a while and continuing their education) to cover the cost of one college class including tuition, fees, books and required materials at the UMaine Hutchinson Center.
