A four (4) credit summer laboratory course, Introductory Biology (BIO 100) is being offered at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center in Belfast from May 29 – June 28.
The lecture is online, and the laboratory meets on Thursdays from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm in the Hutchinson Center biology lab.
BIO 100 is taught by Hutchinson Center science faculty and entomologist, Dr. Gaylen Jones.
Introduction to Biology (BIO 100) introduces fundamental topics in biology, including the structure and function of cells, the molecular basis and mechanisms of genetic inheritance, concepts in evolution, mechanisms of metabolism, and ecology. Introduction to Biology (BIO 100) is open to all students or anyone interested in preparing for life science, ecology, nursing, medical, or alternative health careers. It is a prerequisite for Anatomy and Physiology, which will be taught at the Hutchinson Center in the upcoming fall semester.
