The University of Maine Hutchinson Center will offer Introduction to Women's Studies (WST 101) this fall. Nicolle Littrell, MA, filmmaker and activist is the instructor. Students will have an opportunity to learn about women's lives in the local and global community, exploring key areas such as identity, gender equality and social change. The classroom environment is inclusive and collaborative; students' voices, experience and participation matter. Past guest speakers have included women working in key areas such as domestic violence, women's reproductive health, the US military and the Maine State House of Representatives.
Introduction to Women's Studies is a required course for a program in Women's Studies, is applicable to a wide variety of other disciplines and satisfies U Maine Gen Ed requirements. The fall 2012 semester begins Tuesday, September 4.
